Aquaman star Patrick Wilson is training hard to take on titular superhero Jason Momoa in the upcoming sequel. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom… The actor, who will reprise his role as Orm AKA Ocean Master in the sequel to the DC series, has shared a snippet of his weightlifting regimen, and Wilson is clearly ready to go head-to-head with Atlantis’ monstrous King Momoa again.
“Thank you @oldmanayo for the last 3+ months of teaching Orm … plus all the preparation for the first movie.” Patrick Wilson – says the caption to the video. “A lot of sweat. Lots of @yelawolf. Go”. It looks like Wilson is as excited about the sequel as the fans are, no doubt as the actor spent hours bringing Orm back to the screens after his crushing defeat at the end of the first film. Aquaman…
Orm’s role in the sequel is currently unknown, and the ending of the first film hints that some reconciliation between the stepbrothers may be on the map. Discussing the sequel in a previous interview, Wilson said director James Wang is doing even more with the next superhero epic. “I think like James, when he comes back for a sequel, things get bigger and better,” Wilson said of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. “It’s wider and more fun, more action, more character work, that’s cool. It’s really fun, it’s super fun. ”
James Wang recently revealed that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has officially started filming, with the director sharing a cool shot from the set of the DC sequel. The returning director even teased that the sequel would be “a little more serious” and “more relevant to the world we live in today.”
While plot details remain largely under wraps, the film has been given an intriguing working title, Nekrus, which may provide some insight into the plot. DC fans should argue that Nekrus is known as the name of another underwater city, akin to Atlantis, native to Aquaman. It is unique in that it only exists for very short periods of time and can never be found in the same place twice. Known as the “Black City”, Nekrus is ruled by a tyrant king and is completely militaristic, which should be a problem for the underwater superhero if Nekrus turns out to be part of the story.
We also know that Wilson’s Ocean Master won’t be the only villain to return. Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom with Yahya Abdul-Matin II, also due to the reprising of the Black Manta role. “Aquaman 2 is happening! This is happening, and we can expect this, I think, in 2022, ”Abdul-Matin said earlier. “So I’m glad to be a part of it. Black Manta will be back and I hope he will cause a lot more problems than the first one. ”
Along with Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry AKA Aquaman, Amber Heard will also return to play Meru, Princess Xebel and daughter of King Nereus Dolph Lundgren, much to the chagrin of some … who feel that she should be replaced and changed. Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is slated for release on December 16, 2022. This is courtesy of Patrick Wilson’s official Instagram.
